I am an active member of the Society for Creative Anachronism. This is an international non-profit organization that actively participates in local fund raising activities. We regularly hold camping events in which we participate in sword-like combat. During an upcoming event (September Crown) there will be a fund raising tournament that all of the proceeds will go to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of WA (LLC). The fighters are given a “life” for each $5 they raise and then when they lose a round of the tournament, they give the winner one of their life ribbons. The tournament goes until there are only 4 fighters remaining and these 4 fighters finish the tournament in a standard style of combat.
Now, I am not typically a tournament fighter as I usually fight in larger wars. So I expect to get beaten down in this tournament, which is why I need a large number of “lives”.
I’ll be asking my friends to see if we can get the tournament recorded and will share the video with everyone once the tournament takes place (August 30th).
